Amazon’s Bee Launches Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse AI Devices

Amazon’s Bee has launched two new personal AI devices that listen to your conversations and turn them into summaries, to-do lists and calendar invites. Bee Frontier is a $74.99 wearable you can wear on your wrist or clip to your clothes, available now on Amazon. Bee Eclipse is a $99.99 credit-card-sized device that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone and is coming soon. Basic summaries are free, while a $11.99-a-month Bee Pro plan unlocks unlimited summaries and Alexa+ integration. How does Bee handle privacy?
According to the launch details reported by TechCrunch:
- Raw audio is not stored. It is processed in real time and then deleted.
- Transcripts are encrypted with keys that the device creates and controls, so Amazon employees cannot access them unless you share them.
- You can delete transcripts and summaries at any time.
- Optional Alexa Voice ID can let an Echo device recognize your voice and capture conversations for Bee.
These protections cover what Amazon stores. They do not answer the bigger question: whether the people around you agree to be recorded.
Before you record: consent matters
- Ask first. Tell people when the device is on, especially in meetings, classes and private conversations.
- Know the law. Recording rules vary by state and country, and some require everyone in the conversation to agree. Check the rules where you live and work.
- Follow workplace and school policies. Many employers and schools ban recording devices in certain settings.
- Turn it off for sensitive moments, such as medical appointments, legal discussions or private family conversations.
- Review your settings for what is connected and how long data is kept, as you would for an AI chatbot; see our AI chatbot privacy settings guide.
How does it compare?
Bee Frontier undercuts other AI note-taking gadgets reported by TechCrunch, such as the Plaud Note at $159, the Plaud Note Pro at $189 and the Pocket AI device at $129. If you mostly need meeting notes on a computer or phone, software may be enough: many AI assistants can summarize recordings and documents. Who is it for?
- Good fit: people who forget follow-ups after many short conversations, such as managers, salespeople and busy parents, and who are comfortable asking for consent.
- Think twice: anyone who works with confidential information, or who spends time in places where recording is not allowed.
