What your connection can handle

This test measures your connection to the nearest Cloudflare speed test server (speed.cloudflare.com). Results can vary with Wi-Fi signal, other devices using the network and the time of day. ShokokoTech does not store your results.

How do you get an accurate speed test result?

    1. Close streaming apps, downloads and video calls on this device and others on your network.
    2. Move closer to your Wi-Fi router, or connect with an Ethernet cable to test the speed your provider delivers.
    3. Click Start test and keep this tab open until all four results appear.
    4. Run the test two or three times at different times of day and compare the results.

What do download, upload, ping and jitter mean?

    ResultWhat it measuresWhy it matters
Download (Mbps)How fast data reaches your deviceStreaming, browsing, downloading files and apps
Upload (Mbps)How fast your device sends dataVideo calls, live streaming, backing up photos to the cloud
Ping (ms)How long a small request takes to go to the server and backOnline gaming, video calls and how responsive pages feel
Jitter (ms)How much the ping changes from one request to the nextSmooth calls and games; high jitter causes choppy audio and lag

    Is your internet fast enough?

It depends on what you do online and how many people share the connection. As a reference, Netflix recommends at least 3 Mbps for HD and 15 Mbps for Ultra HD (4K) streaming, and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) uses 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload as its benchmark for home broadband.

    SpeedTypically good for
Under 10 MbpsBrowsing, email and HD video for one person
10 to 25 Mbps4K streaming on one screen and video calls
25 to 100 MbpsA small household streaming and working at the same time
100 Mbps or moreLarge households, big downloads and many connected devices

For gaming and video calls, ping matters as much as speed. Under 50 ms feels responsive, while over 100 ms can cause noticeable delay.

Why is my internet slower than my plan?

    • Wi-Fi limits: distance, walls and older routers often cut speed more than your provider does.
    • Busy network: other devices streaming or updating share the same connection.
    • Peak hours: speeds can drop in the evening when more people in your area are online.
    • Device limits: an older phone, laptop or network adapter may not support your plan’s top speed.
    • VPN: a VPN adds an extra route and usually lowers speed and raises ping.
    • Gaming lag: see how to reduce lag in online games.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is this speed test free?

Yes. It is free, works on phones and computers and does not need an account or app.

How much data does the test use?

It depends on your speed. On a fast connection, a full test can use a few hundred megabytes, so be careful on a limited mobile data plan.

Why are my results different from other speed tests?

Each service tests against different servers and uses its own method. Compare results from the same test over several days to spot real changes.

    Does ShokokoTech store my results?

No. The test runs in your browser and the results are not saved by ShokokoTech. As with any website, Cloudflare’s test servers receive your connection requests.
