QR Code Scanner from Image

Scan a QR code from a screenshot, photo or your camera, right in your browser. See where a link really goes before you open it, with quick safety checks. Your images never leave your device.

Tip: on a computer you can also copy a screenshot and press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on Mac) anywhere on this page.

How do you scan a QR code from an image?

  1. Click Choose an image and select a screenshot or photo that contains a QR code. You can also drag the file onto the box or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  2. The scanner reads the code in a second and shows what it contains.
  3. If it is a link, check the domain and the safety notes before you click Open link.
  4. Use Copy content to paste the text, link or Wi-Fi password anywhere.

What types of QR codes can it read?

QR code typeWhat you see
Website linkThe full address, its domain and safety checks
Wi-Fi networkNetwork name, security type and password, ready to copy
Email, phone or SMSThe address or number and any prefilled message
Contact card (vCard)The contact details as text
Plain textThe text, ready to copy

What do the safety checks mean?

Scammers use QR codes to hide fake login and payment pages, a trick often called “quishing.” This scanner never opens a link by itself. Instead, it shows the real destination and flags common warning signs:

  • No HTTPS: the page would load without encryption, which legitimate login and payment pages never do.
  • Short link: services like bit.ly hide the final address, so you cannot see where you will land.
  • IP address instead of a name: real businesses almost always use a domain name.
  • Lookalike characters: addresses starting with “xn--” can imitate a real brand with foreign letters.
  • Unusual link types: codes that try to run scripts or open apps directly.

A clean result does not guarantee a site is safe. Only open codes from people and businesses you trust, and never enter passwords or card details on a page you reached from an unexpected code. Learn more in how to spot a phishing email or text.

Is it private?

Yes. The image and camera feed are processed in your browser with jsQR, an open-source QR code reader. Nothing is uploaded to ShokokoTech or stored anywhere.

Tips if a QR code will not scan

  • Crop the image so the code is large, but keep the white border around it.
  • Use a sharper picture. Blurry or tiny codes are hard to read.
  • Avoid glare when using the camera, and hold the device steady.
  • Try another screenshot taken while zoomed in on the code.
